Description
A large group of Venice, Italy police appeared to be meeting together in San Marco Square before the morning rounds. My larger piece of luggage was stolen before I could get off the Marco Polo airport bus. As reported on travel websites it is not the locals stealing but fellow travelers! After walking about 80 feet I looked down and realized the black luggage that I thought was mine had a thin yellow stripe running down the middle. I promptly unzipped the flap only to find an unrecognizable pink fuzzy garment laying on top. Upon returning the luggage mine was nowhere to be seen. After some difficulty because few policemen speak English and with the passage of four days I chalked it up to experience (the luggage I brought back sat in the Airport bus office for four days with no calling about the luggage even thought it contained medications. As I suspected thief would eventually pick it up later when I had most likely left town. Sure enough the person came by for their bags the next day! Thankfully I didn't have any valuables in the bag only clothing. I learned it is a good idea to tie something obvious on your luggage so it is harder for someone to walk away with it undetected.
