Artist's Description

The military in Texas has gone through changes from the Revolution, independence with its own army, and statehood with the US army. Horses are still being used for state security known as the Texas Rangers. From the beginning, it was a cost-effective mobile and efficient frontier defense organization during independence when a full-time army was too expensive. Image of historical army soldiers on horses with an antique map of Texas superimposed in tones of sepia.
