An ornate wrought iron gate leads to a private garden in Venice, Italy. Venice foundations are built on wood pilings. The only soil is brought in from the mainland. Gardens are scarce, trees even scarcer and grass is almost unknown. Even with the scarcity Venice's beauty is found amongst the old bricks and mortar.
